Is it possible?

Ok, thanks for the links and I have it on my To Do list when I have the $600+, I wish I had my Domino 5 yellow books still but lost them in a move.
Downloaded some PDFs and am muddling through most areas. Is what I want to do which is get a document by a key that is a value in a field possible? If so what method is it? So far the closest thing I can figure out would be to grab all documents and look for a match and if find one then replace the itemvalue I need.
However that would seem to be a cumbersome way to do it and build up a large collection.
